“Each of us has some kind of vocation. We are called by God to share in his life and in his Kingdom. Each one of us is called to a special place in the Kingdom. ..For each of us, there is only one thing necessary: to fulfill our own destiny, according to God’s will, to be what God wants us to be. ” Thomas Merton
As a wife of a loving husband, a mother of most beautiful and precious daughters, a sister and friend, a privileged educator of young children and a woman of service, I am in awe of having a most loving and blessed life. My guiding star and desire has always been contemplating, ‘What is God’s will in my life?”.
It can be quite interesting where God guides us. My mission it seems, has always been to make others feel loved and know God’s love. As I reread the homily of Saint Mother Theresa, the words that cling to my heart, “unshakable faith”, “extraordinary spiritual vision” and a woman who “fully understood the Gospel of love with every fibre of her indomitable spirit”. What an amazing life. What a joy it would have been to have met this amazing instrument of God’s love. Her funeral homily was a, “great prayer of gratitude to God.”. This is a glorious life.
It resonated with me that her response to adversity and outside opinion was always, ‘people need love and to be loved’. Simply loved. I feel but a grain of sand in her ocean of charitable love, but here in these notes I write on my faith blog I hope that even one soul can be touched by God’s love. Saint Mother Theresa lived, “As you did it to one of the least of my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:40
I hope that a journey of love beckons you with an open heart and soul to God’s love. May we ask ourselves, ‘Have we loved well?’. For me there is much work that needs to be done. I am not a theologian or a debater, but a child and daughter of God who feels such gratitude and love and who wants others to feel His love. As I journey with God, I hope that a word or two may give comfort to those in need, but more than anything that you believe, God is love. He has great plans. “For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you, and give you hope.” Jeremiah 29.
We may falter, but we can rise. We may feel darkness but we can be guided by God’s light. May we be brave in our pursuit. Let us journey and seek God’s love and allow Him to nourish our body and soul. God is ‘mystery’. May our life be embraced in the unknowing. God bless you on your journey of faith, hope and love. “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.. Before you were born I set you apart.” Jeremiah 1:5
