For truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “move from here and there” and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20
A child abandoned in wonder asked his father, how great is your love for me? With tears that stilled in his eyes, the father looked down at the child while caressing him said, My child I will show the most lovely of all creatures, of nature and all being if you have only the faith of a mustard seed. Wondering further the child said, father how then can I know amazing faith? To which the father replied, If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you. Luke 17:5-6
Now the child had known glimpses of faith in special love around him. In the air the birds that flew landing here and there, finding nourishment as it came and it went. In the breath of child created by union of creatures so miraculous in nature. In being present in mind, body and spirit in every moment that was set before him. It was in all matter that could ever be and found only on the path of faith. The child said, Father increase my faith so I can know heaven. The father replied, How shall we picture the kingdom of God or by what parable shall we present it? “It is like a mustard seed which when sown upon soil though it is smaller than all the seeds that are upon the soil, yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and forms large branches; so that THE BIRDS OF THE AIR can NEST UNDER ITS SHADE.” Matthew 4:30-32
The child had not always known the immensity of faith, as he continued to seek, for like a seed it grew within him. Nor had the he always shown devotion to God in ways he should have, but pleading to know, the seed continued to grow. As he stumbled, he rose knowing that pain was transforming him. When blinded he awoke to the illuminating light of God all around him, seeing Jesus in all matter and beings. When the child in wonder sought God in all things the seed grew and grew from the tiniest of faith to magnanimous love. As the child looked up to the sky and wondered on the whole of creation, the stars that outshone in the universe were at one time the tiniest of all.
We may ask, how God can we increase our faith so that we may partake in your great love and plan for salvation for each of your children? Gracious, ever loving Lord, for by your hand you have created heaven and earth and all beings, perfect in us and the world the power of great faith in you above all things visible and invisible. Jesus, I trust in you. Mother Mary pray for us. Amen.
Peace,
Claudia
