Then I went and washed and received my sight. John 9
Today, I ponder the ways we cannot see, the blind man within each of us. A man blind from birth but made to see through the power of Jesus, as Jesus placed his saliva and mud on the mans eyes and the man received sight. At times we focus on the stumbling stones along the way instead of God’s miracles. We cannot see the forest for the trees like the Pharisees about Jesus, he does not observe the Sabbath. They failed to focus their minds and hearts on God’s miracle in front of them. The miracle of sight, cleansing of sin, Baptism and renewal to which he invites each of us.
Every second countless miracles of compassionate people sacrificing and selflessly saving lives; renewal of spirit in mankind drawn to great acts of love for one another; renewal of nature; prayers and doctrines deepening faith in new ways, miracles beyond what the human mind can comprehend. The mind and heart of God is so magnanimous in its love, if only we put our trust in him to receive it. With every breath and movement flowing around us he invites us to a deeper relationship with him, to accept His love to heal and see.
God invites us to let go of our will and seek his will in all things. St. Paul reminds us of the light God places within each of us, if we believe. Like a canoe without an oar it is difficult to see safe shores on our own but with him we are safe and secure. Even when we cannot see we can pray so that he may give us sight so that we may grow, deepen in faith, wisdom and love. We can read divine scripture to guide us. God answers prayers in His way and wants to give sight to live in the light of His love and fulfill his promise.
We might ask ourselves God how can I see through your eyes? In you we can see your ever loving, forgiving, sacrificing, offering of yourself nature, help us grow in beautiful ways. Gracious Lord protect and come to the aid of all Nurses, Doctors and health care professionals and heal your people. Forgive us Lord, for our blindness and our sins. Open our eyes and heart to your wisdom to live in love and hope.
Peace,
Claudia
