This is the first passage as you begin your journey in this lovely, navy blue covered book, by Alexander De Rouville.  A book as eloquent as this is like honey to the heart.  The title resonates clearly and so appropriate to the many views of who we chose as people from which to model our life.  Today, we are bombarded with so many types of people with wide views and personalities from which one may chose to model.  The most lasting and true path to happiness can only be found within those individuals and models, that we make part of our lives, that help to fill us with wisdom and virtues.  It is the ones that change us from the inside out, not the outside in.  A mirror can only reveal the flesh that changes but the inner spirit can reveal a heart and soul that can impact the world.  It can do so in the smallest of acts or the grandest of gestures, depending on the gifts given to every soul.

Mary, beckons each one of us to open our heart to her ways.  She waits for us to draw close to her son with a deep wanting to guide us straight to God.  This book is superbly written as it begins with the virtues of Mary for us to model.  One of Mary’s greatest virtues, is Humility.  A virtue we could all cultivate more of in our heart and life.  It continues on a journey through God’s grace given freely to those who accept Him.  Alexander speaks of true greatness, “True greatness is not to be measured according to the empty norms men use but according to the norms of God”…”of what value are all the heroes the world admires, as compared with the great men religion produces through the practice of virtue?”.

This book is to be savored slowly.  It includes meditations, prayers with varying perspective of the author, Mary and Christ.  I am still in the midst of reading this book, but am sure it will be one that will leave a lasting imprint on my heart.  Do you seek a read that will inspire a fire within your heart, give this one a try.  Allow Mary to be your model and guide you in your life.  She will bring you closer to Christ and lead you to perfect peace.
