Phillipians 4:8 “Finally beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is any worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Twists ebb and flow into our lives constantly. Even the seemingly insignificant can surprise us and make us have pause. A worry or sorrow of today can be a saving grace the next. Through it all, it’s the energy spent to either build positive moments or sad ones, that we act. When you rest in the truth of God’s will for you above your will, your actions flourish. Still we have free will to choose what pleases us or what pleases God. My husband and I are not ones for the modern term, compromise , but instead we lead and we follow in faith. We try to choose the other’s needs before our own. I see his understanding and gift in things where I have yet to learn and vice versa. We try to follow what is just and worthy of God’s praise. Although, we may not always attain it, we keep on the path of God’s grace. I try to do what is pleasing to God.
The day before Father’s Day, my husband texted me, “For Father’s Day I’d like to go see the ‘Wonder Woman’ movie”. I had hoped he’d forgotten about it. At first I wanted to suggest he see the movie with his brother. At one time, I enjoyed watching, Wonder Woman with Linda Carter along with other superhero movies. However, today’s superhero movies focus of a violent and dark portrayal of the characters, rather than an uplifting of good conquering evil story. It is violence in our media to which I strongly object. If something builds character, it has value to me. If something tries to erode or destroy it, I feel quite the opposite. I take strong objection to things that try to desensitize adults and children to violence. Our world is in need of love and hope and you are an instrument by which God wants to use. My conviction for love, justice and peace, runs deep in my soul. Like my father and mother, it always has. Never the less, I wanted to do something that my husband enjoyed, for him, not me. I went out of love for my husband.
It was worth it. Wonder Woman’s, actress, Gal Gadot played an interesting role that captivated from the start. As a strong, female character with conviction for love and justice, in her journey she comes to know herself and help the world. With resistance from others, she believes, “It is our sacred duty to protect the world”. She learns, that a world she feels compelled to save is filled with darkness. While on mission, she witnesses a torn community in which there are displaced families and children, that need her help. Contrary to the opinions of her male partners, but determined, she forges ahead to help. Relentless, she sees the goodness of mankind and conquers evil in spite of the forces that try to stop her.
Our world is greatly in need of the remarkable strength and love, women, have to offer. Women must rise to God’s call. With the love of God in your heart you are unstoppable. You can conquer the force of evil that prevent you from fulfilling your purpose. Follow the path that leads you to God. The world should be filled with women and men equally in positions to build a world of peace and love. This movie was tiny but my thoughts of women in the world as channels of peace and love and are huge. It yet again gave me pause to think, on the times women are discouraged to fulfill their purpose. Where the heart of a woman is desperately needed for society to bear the fruit of goodness, yet it is suppressed. The times when women are not encouraged, but discouraged to fulfill their calling. As a people do we act in God’s will or our own? Do you live in a spirit of wholeness? Women have incredible compassion, insight, understanding and wisdom, that must be shared. Women are remarkably intuitive and rounded thinkers filled with passion and beauty. Our ability to be a beacon of love, is in our soul. Be that woman. As a mother and servant of God, I try to devote myself and keep on in my works to promote a world of peace and love. Surround yourself with that which brings you closer to wholeness.
Thankfully, my husband gives me and my daughters his gift of praise of women. Love for my husband, family and women ruled the day. God alone, is the awesome power in our lives but it’s nice to see a tiny light peeking through the cracks of life in a popular movie. A message of love in a world that thirsts it even in it’s minuteness, is worth it. God makes all things good when we act out of love. God dispels darkness the closer we get to His love. It is the only way to peace and joy. Scripture reminds us, Ask and receive, knock and the door will open, seek and find. As Gal Gadot said perfectly, “It’s not about what you deserve. It’s about what you believe and I believe in love.” and “Only love can save the world.”. God reminds us His love is infinite. Seek God and be filled with His purpose for you. Seek love in all things.
Peace,
Claudia
