“Peace be to this house, and all who dwell herein. And peace to all who enter here.”
Catherine Doherty from Madonna House had great love for God and inspiration for people. Catherine once said, “When a priest walks into this house. Christ walks in. We know that in faith.” As I read this passage in the devotional that morning, I was in awe. How its word resonated with me on the morning after our home had been blessed by our pastor. This was the first time our home had received an Epiphany blessing filled with prayers. As the pastor inscribed 20+C+M+B+17 on the wall with chalk he offered prayers of , The three wise men Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar followed the star of God’s son. May God bless this home and all who dwell and visit. The initials also mean, Christus Mansionum Benedicat, may Christ bless this house. Then the pastor walked through our home sprinkling holy water in every room in our home. We felt God’s presence. After which we enjoyed a little food and insightful conversation. When your home is blessed it’s as if a blanket of love gently falls over it. Perfect for the season.
When my daughters were young they enjoyed using coloured chalk on our driveway. They loved to draw and write using a whole array of colours. It looked like a magnificent mural. A story. My neighbor, who enjoys a pristine, clean home like I do said to me, How do you let your girls draw all over your driveway? Chalk and mess all over. I remember we laughed and I said, I know, but it’s beautiful. I feel blessed. When I look at it I see a drawing from God. Who would have known that chalk would have been used for an actual blessing for our home. Be open to see blessings in all things. May you gravitate towards things that fill your home with love and peace. Be blessed!
Peace,
Claudia
