“Let the sea and what fills it resound, the world and those who dwell in it; let the rivers clap their hands, and the mountains shout with them for joy before the Lord.” Psalm 98:7-8
God invites us to sing a a new song that praises Him for all creatures and nature, big and small. I can’t help but sense that God calls us to praise him as creator and be thankful for all his creation, in all the moments of our life. I wonder on the many times one can get caught up in the created things that may fall short of living in the gratitude that God who is the creator of all goodness and that He has placed before us to enjoy and further glorify Him. I wonder on the times one should take to edify others yet instead tears down or the times in which one is called to greatness but falls into the abyss of sin. God has an ulterior plan of such sheer goodness so great, that he sent His only son, to live among us, to pray with us, to endure with us, to prosper our lives, to redeem us, in a such a way that there is a great resounding joy in the rivers and mountains.
Imagine the sea and its water, creatures and all that thrives in it before you, surrounding you with such love incomprehensible. As you take a dive into the depths of the water allow its love to touch the deepest part of the soul. The fears one could ever know remain on the surface, and do not follow for the moment, because the depths is calling you to see something great and then from nowhere in the depths, your heart begins to feel such a peace and comfort, that is indescribable. We can let go and just rest in silence and revel in wonder and awe. Then ever so gently our soul begins to rise to the surface, as we soar to surface, we feel renewed, as if a healing of each layer of our life that has passed, has taken place deep within us, we are mute to name nor do we care to. As we arrive to the surface, where we began, we see with new eyes a reflection staring back at us in the water. In the mirror of the water, there is an image of self, one we have never seen, even though it has been there all along. The image that has emerged is so breathtakingly beautiful that we forget ourselves and can only imagine the incredible and awesome power behind such beauty. We are created in God’s image. Do we dare imagine God as so magnanimous in love?
Imagine as you stand on the mountain peak and suddenly being filled with such a presence and spirit of love, that one can’t help but feel their soul soar. As it slowly sails upwards it gently kisses the sunrise of the early day. It is as if your soul is foreign, as you watch a soul and sunrise embrace and can catch a glimpse of God’s immense goodness. Slowly, with a deep breath, in the deepest part within and possibly slightly against thy will to listen, there He invites you to be drenched in His light and only His light. The eyes close for a second and open and there before you one may see something that was not seen before this moment. The dazzling sun is within reach and with arms outstretched wants to fill your soul with a glorious light. Can we imagine God in it?
Are we becoming more as we were born to be or veering in the opposite direction? A life becoming is one full of life and abundance so great that in all times whether suffering or joy, knows the creator and His abundant love for His children. A life becoming is one that begins to see the trinity looking down from heaven and seeing his grand creation and creatures as so precious but the great yearn that exists in it. A life becoming is one that when Jesus feeds the thousands with but a few loaves of bread, one can see the unloved, the unwanted, the uncared for in the eyes of those receiving and placed before them.
May you grow in prayer and contemplation. Amen.
Peace and prayer,
Claudia
