“God has made everything beautiful for its own time.” Ecclesiastes 3:11
Years back my husband gave me a precious book of one of my favourite movies, Pride and Prejudice, which was uniquely tailored with my own family’s name inserted in the script for the main characters. It touched me in many ways and one way in particular was the depth of love and the trials towards the destiny, we can all face. In the movie there’s a breath taking scene which depicts the actress Elizabeth Bennet, standing atop the edge of a cliff of this massive mountain that overlooks a magnificent scape of land, that is captivating. When Elizabeth’s arms outstretched and her dress billowing in the wind one can’t help but be in awe and wonder of life’s possibility and mystery in this breath taking scene. It draws my imagination into endless beauty of hope and life before us. There can be comfort at that crossroad of the edge in realizing one’s dream. One can also come to know the edge will eventually end and the remaining journey truly everlasting, is eternity. The edge can inspire and thrust one forward to new chapters, new beginnings. It can transform a life. It can be place of eternal comfort or a place of abandonment. “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?”. There is no place so far and wide that God is not at our side. “If I go to the heavens you are there; If I make my bed in the depts you are there. If I rise on the wings of a dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” Psalm 139:7-12
In our home the kitchen and gathering around a table to have hearts to hearts, prepare homemade food, eat, read and study, is a haven of love. When my daughters were younger there were these precious moments when something sparked in us to dance together, in our kitchen during one of one these special times. We would play the song, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and arm in arm the three of us would sing, dance and laugh. Instantly, we were filled with joy and love, and felt then as now that nothing in this world could ever separate our love and being in one another’s lives. The bond of love was carved into our hearts forever. God’s love was infused into our lives. As I look back on this precious memory, I see God as the fourth arm in our dance, holding us and filling us with His love. Love can flourish and grow when we allow God to dance in our lives and minds and fill our heart with joy. A journey is most fruitful that thrives in God’s love. When we become open to a relationship with God and see him acting in our life, its ways and possibilities are truly endless. The love most worthy to pass on to our children and grandchildren, is God’s divine love.
The physical edge can end but the spiritual brink were one comes to know oneself and their purpose, can be the start of knowing who we are in God’s creation. Created in ‘God’s image’. It can be that pivotal moment where a life can be transformed and a new adventure in life is ahead. Life is a journey of love. Our steps and choices can reflect what God has in store for us. It may vary from what we may have thought, but it is one if explored will reap the beauty of true endless love. An adventure of love for ourself and others. A journey of love to God.
Wherever your journey may take you, may it be in faith, hope and love. Faith never fails. Faith helps us see beyond the worldly edge to the great hope of eternal glory. May you open your heart to God’s infinite grace.
Peace,
Claudia
