“You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” Matthew 21:22
If you have searched for ultimate love. If you’ve sought peace in the midst of upheaval. If you heart yearns in the ebb and flow of your life for something deeper than any experience ordinary life could offer. In the silence of time whispers the greatest power or prayer. When the noise is dimmed and the voices have been calmed and your inner spirit is at rest in the creator, it is a gift of prayer. Prayer of thanks, praise and offering can exist all around us if we accept God as savior and share in His word. Prayer can change us. Change can begin with belief.
If we attend a Mass and hear the Bible readings and say it is irrelevant to my life, is it possible that our need for a quick fix or superficial response prevents us from hearing the deeper meaning and message God is trying to convey to us. God wants to change our life when we live in His word. God wants to get to the root of restoring us in a gentle and loving way. The black and white answer may seem satisfying but God calls us to pray and listen with an open heart. The Bible, although written centuries ago, is very much relevant to us now, in this moment. Prayer helps us be open to fine tuning our listening. When Jesus, the apostles, the disciples, prophets and people speak in the Bible in prayer it is brought forth and penetrates the barrier of time and speaks to us, here and now. It may bring forth a word, phrase or prayer that God wants you to hear. When you place yourself in the events of the life of Jesus, His words are timeless. Ask God to silence your mind and allow you to listen only to Him.
If we take a dandelion, it spreads its roots rapidly, germinates and causes others to grow and intrusively takes over areas. If we seek to eradicate it and miss the healing power of its leaves we miss out in God’s love for us. If we pause and wonder on its beauty and purpose, we may see that dandelion leaves are one of the healthiest things that can nourish us. Like the roots and flower God wants us to grow and spread His love. Creation should leave us in utter awe as should prayer and God’s word.
Growing in prayer is infinite and wherever you may be on your journey in life, breath and begin. It could be a solitary word or an outpouring of tears for help but if you believe in God then He will answer. Be open to His love all around you. God wants us to be the rarest orchid in His garden amongst all creation. He wants us to be the courageous eagle through the clouds. He wants us to swim alongside the creatures of the rushing water and be free and happy. He wants us to draw near to Him in prayer.
Lord, giver of life and all that is good open our eyes to the beauty of creation and prayer. Creator come dwell in the hearts of all souls so that they may taste the sweetness of prayer and love you offer us. Mother Mary pray for us. Amen.
Peace and Prayers,
Claudia
