Exodus 15:1-6 ” I will sing to the LORD, for he is gloriously triumphant.”
Exodus is defined as “a mass departure of people, especially immigrants”. The Bible depicts one of the greatest moments in history when the Israelites departed from Egypt and are freed from slavery. When restlessness and hope began to wane, God parted the Red Sea for his people. One of my uncles, a man of devout faith reveled in telling me the story of freedom and God’s parting of the Red Sea. Oh how he enjoyed sharing our favourite movie, The Ten Commandments. Being in the midst these conversations was a gift. Millions of faith filled immigrants endured their own personal trials, struggles on their conquest as they journeyed to an unfamiliar country. With little in their pocket and strong conviction in their heart their faith of steel guided them forward. Faith and hope that all would be well on a journey born of God’s will and love of family. My migrant parents and relatives shared many stories of Exodus’s in their lives. With the greatest trials amazing revelations and destinies arose. When we trust in God, He clears the way.
I reflect on Exodus moments in my life, although too numerous to recount, the immense joy and happiness they brought were immeasurable. On my first Holy Communion wearing my new, white dress resembling a miniature bride and receiving my first Holy Host and afterwards enjoying the huge celebration with family and friends. At mass I am filled with God’s love as I partake in God’s bread and wine and a rush of utter joy courses through my veins. On my wedding day as we vowed, I will honour you all the days of my life and then we placed flowers to adorn and revere Mother Mary, is forever etched in my heart. I was over the moon with joy the day my daughters were born, took their breath in the world and I held them for the first time. The rush of utter love and peace that filled my soul was surreal. In prayer and the Rosary, its revelations make my heart feel as if it will burst as it soars with new wisdom. In conversations, surroundings and literature when God pierces His way through at the exact time my heart calls and aches for it. In scripture when a word, a phrase or a thought God wants and desires for me, leaps from the pages destined to reach my heart, words and actions. Is it in those pivotal moments of joy that yet another facet of our true nature that longs for harmony with our authentic self, is yet again revealed? Our destiny towards a life of genuine authenticity gently unfolds as God reveals himself.
Close your eyes and think back to those times when you felt incredible and utter joy. God reminds us He is always with us. He will never abandon us. He waits for us to follow His promise and goodness that awaits us. What are the Exodus moments in your life that God have given? Let us always be truly thankful.
Peace,
Claudia
